Finished my first build of the British Blues Overdrive.
I really enjoyed the build and am now really enjoying the sound.

The instructions were excellent, maybe withone tiny exception.
the wiring of the 9V socket could be clearer for the two + terminals (I think one is + to Sleeve, the other is + to battery disconnect).
However the supplied plug diddn't have any markings in these two terminals.

By the way I liked the "in to out" 9V socket so I can remove the guts for painting easily.

Thanks, love the product, this will not be my last build !

Steve

Yeah there isn't a single DC jack I've seen that has any markings. You just need to follow the picture - the vertical being the -, and then differentiate the + lugs by which is in the middle and which is on the opposite side of the -.

It's funny, I have an easier time with pictures like that rather than reading through a description of which lug is which, it jsut goes to show that we all see things a little differently.

We get a good many tech support issues with folks swapping the + terminals on the DC jack. The trouble is, the instructions, IMO, are pretty clear if you look at the diagram and puzzle it out a bit. I guess a better explanation of its function would help?

Just wanted to share my ditto on the great sound of the BBOD kit. I had no issues at all with the build, although I may have mixed up the capacitors (or what that the Octave Fuzz..) but by laying out the parts ahead of time and using the code numbers I am getting better at divining which cap is who.

The one things that not all instructions have is a picture with the components in place. This really speaks to the caps mixups, but it is kind of nice to have a quick visual check.

Another nice check would be a diagram of where to take readings to learn to troubleshoot. I found one of these posted for the Confidence Booster. But then by using the schematic I should be able to figure that out, which is probably a better way to learn, so never mind. I haven't made a mistake yet to try to troubleshoot, but I don't think that will last.
