Ok, so here's the story:

I ordered a Large Beaver kit as a gift for my guitarist and friend for his recent help in planning my upcoming wedding. Anyway, he got it, and completed it recently. We just had a jam and played a show and the Beaver is now his #1 distortion! It sounds freakin' awesome! I don't think I've ever heard him have better guitar tone. I play bass so I'm jealous!

The only complaint I guess I have is that the shipping cost from the Canadian distributor seemed pretty high ($80 for the kit and the total came to over $115 - the postal label on the box shows the actual cost to mail it as less than $10). Also, no invoice was ever provided.

Did you get the just the kit or the kit already built? Because if you ordered it built from Scott at Axeandyeshallreceive, who I believe is still the Canadian distributor, then they charge $30 to get the pedal sent to you already built. If you just ordered the kit though, I would just contact Scott with any type of PayPal invoice or payment as I have ordered from him before, and have chatted with him on occaision, and he seems like he would be willing to work out any problems you might have....

Stepehen, I think you did some bad math...$115-$80(for kit)= $35...If you've done your taxes recently, recheck your math ;) lol

Nope, it was the unbuilt kit of parts only. $35 for something... I tried to figure it out and even if part of that is GST and PST it still looks like over $20 for shipping.

Just try to contact the distributor. If it is still Scott, he seems like the type of person that will work this out with you...

$80 US = $94 CAD, add GST which is around $5 I think..add $10 shipping..$115 total sounds a bit high but about right.

Aaaah... there it is. I just went back and had a full look at the axeandyoushallreceive site. It says at the very top that all prices are in US$. It never occurred to me to scroll to the top after you're in the gear price list because the target link takes you right to the spot on the page where the BYOC stuff is. I assumed that since I was ordering from the Canadian distributor that the prices were in Canadian funds. Honestly though, that dude could use an overhaul to the site design to make things clearer and more organized. Very 1995.

I'm sure they are getting things improved, but its just 1 or 2 people doing things over there, I think...

i don't know what kind of music you play or tone you go for, but the muff sounded awesome on my buddies bass. it is the only distortion we or she has found that sounds good on bass.

I haven't had an opportunity to try it out on my bass yet. We had the one jam and then a gig after he assembled it, but he's taken it apart again to paint the enclosure. I will be trying it soon.

Right now I have a reissue Ampeg Scrambler. It's a kick-ass fuzz/distortion pedal itself!
