I was interested in making a compressor kit. I play both bass and guitar. which kit would be best suited for both. Our maybe there's a mod I can use a switch between the two

The opticomp is more suited for bass. It even has an easily switchable mod. Crbmoa would be the best guy to talk to though. He's built both and plays bass.

Ok after reviewing a little bit more I have a few more questions. Are the capacitors required to do the bass mod included with the kit? Also is there any particular switch that I would need. I couldn't seem to find a thread that included a switch for Bass/Guitar. I'm new to building pedals and i'm just looking into all of my options.

I believe the cap is included in the kit. The switch is not. Here's a good tutorial as far as how to wire it all up: http://www.beavisaudio.com/techpages/Switches/
Scroll down to see how you'd do it. In his example he has resistors, so in your case you would just substitute with capacitors.

That's awesome. Thanks for the great link. I'm looking forward to making this thing.

Ok i hate to be a pain and keep asking questions. Just looking into the switch again. The example gives a DPDT switch that would work. I was looking at the opti build again and it has 3 capacitors that would need to be switched. Would that still work?

Oh yea, it's a three cap switch.

I would say C1 would have the biggest affect on your tone. Even c1 and c2 would do the job nicely I'd wager. Hmmm.
I don't know how to visually show you how to switch between two sets of caps but I'll find an example and post here later.

The diagram you posted showed a 2 cap switch near the bottom. Just wondering if I should do that or put the caps in some perf board
