I have my VB-2 assembled and really like the wiggly vibrato to be had. One minor problem is that the single 9-pin BA-662A chip barely stays inserted into the socket. I bottom out the chip so that is not the problem. It looks like the pins are very thin and don't fully connect snugly with the socket. It has a very loose fit and any bump will cause the chip to just fall out of the socket. Anyone have any ideas on how to get the chip seated a little more firmly. Tape, glue, silicon or other? My finger works fine for now!

Another socker can be obtained quite cheaply from Radio Shack. I needed one for a mod I did and I was able to get a package of two of them for less than $1.

I don't know what to tell you. Usually it's a bitch getting them into the socket and once they're in, you need a pair of pliers to get them out.

I'm sure electical tape will hold it in place just fine.

are you sure you've pushed the component in all the way? usually with sockets, you can feel when it grabs the part.

Well, well, well ! I had to really push that bad boy in there but it works! Call me double retarded I've squeezed in many an IC but I guess I wanted to be a litle too carefull with a $45 chip. Nice wiggly tremelo. This box will sit next to the UniVibe clone I built.

I hear you man. It's scary putting that much force on such a tiny little expensive thing.
