I touched up the joints on my board again, with no noticeable results. I am going to try and make use of some patience and try again tomorrow. Could I also have a short somewhere that might be causing this?

on the solder side of your circuit board, it looks like one of your solder joints is touching the mounting hole that would go over top of the "blend" pot. Or is this just a optical illusion?

It looks like it is an illusion caused by the camera angle.
