Hi All
I just finished my first 4 builds (OD-2, Phase Royal, Reverb and 5 Knob Compressor). I did the whole decal / clear coat deal and will post pics shortly ( A big thank you to duhvoodooman for the finishing links - Paint.net is a ton of fun!).

The pedals are all really cool but I seem to be having some issues with the Royal and hope to get some feedback from you guys?

I like the sound of the Phaser but can anyone tell me if it is possible to slow down the rate some more? The slowest setting is just too fast for this one intro to a song I'm wanting to record with it. I'd like to get it at least twice as slow.

Second, the output seems hotter than just the guitar in bypass mode. Is it possible to lower the output a little? Maybe that could cear up the distortion a little too (I am using humbuckers and it is not a very musical distortion)?

Third, I'm getting the beating thing as well (only in 6 stage mode). I'll check the solder joints. My question here is..Even if the leads to the jacks are a bit long, if you push them away from the trannies can the extra length still be picking up the beating sound more than shorter (just make it to the solder eyelets) wires? We're talking 1/2 inch at best here.

Lastly, The Mix knob is acting very non linear and I am getting a lot of static when turning it ( mostly in first 20 degrees and last 20 degrees of rotation)? Any ideas there?

Thanks a bunch guys

Are you sure you built it right? I can't imagine the speed of my PR's rate control getting any slower.

There are no active components (just switch contacts) in the signal path in bypass mode to provide any gain so I don't see how you could be getting a hotter output in bypass mode.

The static on the mix knob is normal. Whenever you have a pot with a DC voltage on it you're gonna get that.

Don't know what to tell you about the beating thing.

Thanks for the RE Stephen

Sorry for the miscommunication.
Posting EARLY in the morning doesn't help! I meant to say the Phaser is louder than the bypassed signal by a decent amount (more than say a boost for lead).

I will re-check all the components as I did replace all the caps and resistors with Dales and Wimas.

So if I did want the rate slower, what would you recommend trying?

Anyway, here are the pics of the Phase Royal. Where should I post the others?

Thanks Again

OK
So on closer examination I discovered that the pots were reversed. Guess I had a dyslexic moment....Maybe some other heartbeat victims should check for this?

However, I think I've got a bad switch on this one.
A pro player of mine told me once he'll only take Boss pedals on tour because their switches never wear out and the type used on the BYOC's do.
Anybody else heard that....found a better switch?
