Bob:

I cleaned up the primary ground (purple wire) as suggested. Went to recheck the continuity as we did earlier:

With a cable inserted in the input jack, check for ground continuity between the enclosure and points 1 and 2. The negative side of the power source for the pedal connects to ground through the ring of the input jack--the cable plug provides the continuity between the ring and the sleeve of the input jack, which is the pedal's ground connection. You should have ground continuity at both points.

Now, I do not get continuity at either point 1 or 2. Now I am really at a loss as to what is going on.

Bob:

Had a little time to work on the pedal over the holiday weekend. I worked on the main ground as you indicated and still cannot establish continuity between the PCB and case at points #1 & #2 from your earlier post.

Not sure where to go from here!

Did some more reheating of solder joints. Checked conductivity between all points on the Main Ground trace and the box. All good. But still no continuity betwee the box and points #1 & #2 per your above post.

Are you doing that testing with a cable inserted in the input jack? Those points are part of the battery/power ground trace on the PCB, and are wired to the ring of the input jack. The ring connects to the jack's sleeve (ground) through the outer shaft of the cable plug--no cable plugged in, no ground path for the power.

I am doing the tests with the cable in the input jack. I will play with some more tonight and let you know what I find.
Thanks.

Try replacing the wire between the eyelet that's labeled "Ring" on the PCB and the ring tab of the input jack. Also check the ring "finger" on the input jack to make sure it's not sprung outward so as not to make contact with the cable plug when inserted.

Replaced the wire as directed.

We now have continuity between the case and and the first test in the post at #2 by the footswitch. Still no power to the PCB.
