Not something I've ever seen here, and certainly not something I thought I'd be posting anywhere ever....but.....

New Watch Day!

I recently won my company's annual "legendary service" award. Among other perks, you get to choose a "prize" from a catalog of some pretty swanky stuff, including a riding lawnmower, a small catamaran, a 60" LED flatscreen, half a dozen sets of golf clubs, and tons of other nice items. But I chose the most expensive thing I could find in the prize listing: a Tag Heuer "Aquaracer" wristwatch. Now, a pricey watch is one of the last things I would ever buy for myself. But since my company was paying the tab, I figured I might as well get something cool that I wouldn't normally buy.

Anyway, I'm really not trying to brag or boast. I'm just surprised to be owning this crazy bit of bling and thought to share it with my online brothers. :) A lot of guys are into high-end watches, so I thought there might be a closet "watchy" in this group maybe.

Here's a pic of it:

That is one sweet watch. I have to admit, watches are one thing that I WANT to be into, but then I remember I can't afford to buy a sweet watch...and they always pull on my arm hair...but seriously, I'm a closet watch lover.

Wow - congrats FJ! It's nice to be recognized by your employer. I got screwed this year...won't bore you all with details. But it makes me happier for you. Nice job winning!

Gut shot, or it's just a re-housed Timex.

Nice!

Cool watch. I like watches. My wife spent a little extra two years ago on me for a watch. I showed it to some people. The younger crowd looked at me and a couple of them asked why I need a watch when I have a phone :| When I said I don't carry my phone all the time they looked at me in horror

Kids

Congrats, CJ! It's always nice to be recognized for your hard work :D

I'm mostly self-employed, so my boss is a &$@k, and never gives me a bonus. Hell, I haven't even had a vacation in over 10 years.

Dunno too much about high-end watches, but that one sure looks nice. My father gave me a pretty nice Bulova watch a number of years back, and it's outperformed most every other watch I've ever owned.

Man that is a very awesome watch. I want a TAG bad but they are so freaking expensive. I think watches are one of those things you have to mature into.

I used to wear a watch. But my wife hates anything that ticks. I tried a 0.01uF cap across the I/O. No joy.

Thanks for nice words, guys!

I also now get to park in the executives' parking garage (under the building) for the next year, and that's awesome for when it's raining or snowing.

My other watch is a Bulova that my parents gave me as a college graduation gift. I absolutely love it, and the sentimental value is astronomical.

Nice friggin' watch, man - very cool! I am also a closet watch fan, but I could never justify the money, so you definitely picked this up the best way possible.

A small part of me may never forgive you, however, for not taking the catamaran. A cat is pretty much the most fun you can have on water, plus it says one thing clearly to all who see it: I am awesome, more awesome than you!
