In 24 years of working in an office here in Nashville I've never heard of an employer closing early due to possible tornado's in the coming hours...until today. Predictions are worse than Wednesday around these parts. Time to gather up the pillows and blankets, bring them downstairs near the bathtub (we're 4 ft underground there downstairs) get the phone, radio etc... and get ready to make a dash down there. I'll bring the ipad so I can give you guys a blow by blow  My wife freaks out about this stuff so there is that added fun :|

See ya......

Well to lighten the mood of your situation, here's a direct (albeit abridged) quote from you

Here in Oklahoma, this type of weather would call for a case of beer and some porch sittin' (and pickin' if it's not too wet).

Thanks for the movie selection Kfuz. I'm thinking more like "Twister" :|

Ok, now I'm really gone.....

That's the truth! And many different kinds of crazy at that. I really need to get out of here.

Good luck today!

Take care John and be safe as possible. I grew up in Mississippi ( still cannot type that without singing it ) where tornados were a pretty common occurance. Luckily we was never hit by one but I did get to witness one go right over our house still up in the air. It set down about a mile away, which was close enough for me thank you.

I still remember the weather guy is full southern accent preaching, "Stay in your home and open all winders or dooers" to equilze the pressure.

Good luck vibes from Oregon heading east...

Best of luck to ya, and keep your head down, John. We get very little of this type of weather up here in NY, and thank God for that!

Yep, Wednesday night with all the warnings here we slept in the basement, I feel your pain. BTW Thursday morning she said we would never do that again, we'll see what tonight brings.

Stay safe and don't wind up Mrs Blueshawk too much or she might throw you out, which would be a blow.

We might moan about the weather in the UK but we don't generally have to hide in the cellar. Just as well really 'cos we don't have one.

Stay safe. I'm safe, but delayed in the Phoenix airport, waiting to fly back into Chicago OHare. So, compared to people hiding out in their basements, I'm doing OK.

I know, growing up in Amarillo you would find a reason to be on the front porch on days like this. If the sirens started going off you'd look for the binoculars. If the sirens went off and you lost power you hid in the closet with a mattress over your head.

Stay safe everyone.

Man it looks likes a beast coming at us in about 20 minutes. Going to put the cats up soon and head downstairs. Saying there is 95 mph winds, straight line. Good news is there is golf ball size hail and we were needing a new roof this year  Hello insurance.

Thanks for the well wishes and I should have said the same to my Southeastern bretheren and Midwesterners.

It's all good on my end. Lot of hail, rain, winds etcc...but I don't think it was bad enough to call State Farm for a new FREE roof   We got lucky as it let up ever so slightly as it came over us.

Just saw where Indiana got freakin nailed, 14 people dead :| Isn't someone from Fort Wayne on here?

Anyone else have damage?

I think a total of 35 died across several states if I heard that number right.

Rain and wind got heavy for about 10 minutes here, but that was it.
