I wanted to try and document all the things I've done in electronics - though it's proving hard cause a lot of it was on pieces of paper and so on but I'm looking through old hard drives and so on, so I'm putting up anything I did that I know I verified here. http://paulinthelab.blogspot.co.uk/

I'll have to try that stun gun.

Seriously, I'm not trying to be a dick. :)

Not nearly enough duct tape on there.

that's cool dude, just bear in mind that I have a really high quality Fluke meter and in order to get it to read the output voltage I had to make a EHT probe comprised of 80 1M resistors - that's how high the voltage is on it- I think it can reach 20,000 volts depending on the transformer

I don't even know what most of that stuff is or could be used for, but it looks awesome!

well the latest entry is a cool 14 watt amplifier I designed (and a vero layout) that will power a 4 x 12" cab - not to extreme volumes, but certainly loud enough to piss people off, also it fits in a tiny box and uses the TDA2030 amplifier which I have salvaged many of from old TV's and crap cheap surround sound systems

does anyone visit my vero blog? I've been trying to do a layout at least once a week since I started.

it's kind of for people starting out in electronics. from the 70's to early 2000s they used to put vero layouts in magazines but they are pretty much just PCBs now
anyway the latest one I did was a stepper motor controller.

I've been checking it out myself. Being an electronic noob, I enjoy it. Also, checked out your youtube channel; your cover of "Yesterday" is top notch!

thanks dude, there was alot more to it, I'd put strings and stuff on it but in the end it sounded nicer that way

@TN good! I'm sure there's some stuff you'd be interested in building there

Paul

I particularly enjoyed your entry on snake oil cables. I've had a good laugh about this in the past with similarly priced HDMI cables. At many 1000's of dollars a pop they were directional; the copper, or silver, angels hair, or unicorn pubes or whatever they were made with were spun so that the crystals all aligned in one direction (more than usual?) so the binary signal flowed faster in one direction. If you plugged in the wrong way round, this would somehow hinder the signal and it would sound arse.

I'll try and dig up the link

On a serious note, paper in oil caps are the business. They lubricate the signal to make the lectrickery go faster!

:P

you joke about the oil caps but I bet someone somewhere has said the exact same thing but with sciencey words to make it sound
legitimate.

I remember reading someone claiming that if you don't set PCB traces at the perfect angle that electrons are in danger of flying off the edge
because that's what happens if you take a corner too fast in your car.
ranting about snakeoil electronics is one of my hobbies and also why I'm not very popular on KVR because they believe in snakeoil there

I'm just bitter I didn't think to market hook up cables for £1000 a pop

I did and many other things too like my patented "make sound go quicker" wires that have been specially alligned to make electrons glide across molecule ball bearings - and to make it work faster and therefore achieve accurate clarity because sound doesn't arrive at different times, you can oil it with my special brand of WD40 which is so fine it seems like air but it really is special oil

...I'm just not that much of a c unt haha
