Never seen or heard of.

Why do you want to build a Silverface?
The BF versions are generally better (and the majority would agree) to that. Silverfaces is when Fender got cheap and lazy when it came to their amps.

Correct me where I"m wrong, but you could always build a blackface....then if you wanted some tonal change, mod the amp to a silverface spec.

I agree with Chris....most of the time you hear about guys getting Silverface amps and modding them to blackface specs!

Exactly

No Fender amps got better when they went to Silverfaces. Some stayed the same but none got better.

I personally prefer SF Fenders.

The transformers are generally more hardy and any inequities tonally between the circuits can be easily changed.

AND they're a great value. 8)

I don't know of any SF kits. I would be surprised if there were. First of all, most of the circuits/component values didn't change THAT much from the BF era. Second, the originals don't cost enough to warrant a kit. You wouldn't be able to put together a kit cheap enough to make it not worth buying an original. Well...I suppose you could, but then it would be a total piece of crap.

Yeah right

You might be the first one in the history of mankind to build a blackface amp and make it a silverface, you know... Hurry up before someone gets to it before you

Honestly, I don't know how much of the Silverface-is-bad thing is just myth... I have tried a couple, I liked them, but had nothing to compare to.

But would it have to be a kit? I've seen plenty of SF for sale around, I guess getting a battered one for cheap to restore would be a breeze.

I think the guy who was looking knew he could get one cheap but it is the old deal where you'd rather build it yourself etc... Kind of like the old deal if you get into pedal building to save money it ain't going to happen!

Seriously this "guy" is not me  I'm not joking.

Silverfaces are great. But yea, you'd never be able to build one cheaper then used.

.... well you could, but you'd have to use an awful lot of parts that wouldn't look like the original, and who'd buy that??

Silverfaces are indeed pretty good amps. Compared to Tweed, Blonde, Brown and Blackface Fenders they are however they aren't so great.
