OK, first you have to realize that I'm a huge, life-long NY Yankees fan, as is my wife, so their recent World Series victory was a BIG DEAL in our house. About the time that wrapped up, I was putting my build plans together for a combo pedal that included clone circuits of the Z-vex SHO boost and the Fulltone OCD overdrive. So I started thinking in terms of a Yankees-themed pedal, something that would combine some element of Yankees lore with the highly touted reputations of these two effects. If you're a diehard Yanks fan (or a passionate Yanks hater--there are plenty of those, too, I know), you'll know where the pedal name comes from. If not....well, Google is your friend. And, please--this thread is about the pedal, not the Yankees, so kindly refrain from either gushing praise or spewing venom about the team!

Anyway, the pedal combines Stratotrasto's OCD circuit and Andrew Carrell's (Dragonfly) layout of the SHO circuit. I combined them both on a single piece of veroboard and made a couple of minor modifications of my own. I added a master volume pot to the SHO circuit, and wired both effects into the 3PDT "flipper" switch previously posted in THIS THREAD, so that the pedal can be run SHO -> OCD or OCD -> SHO. With all due credit to the two above mentioned individuals, you can see the hybrid layout I used, complete with all wiring, HERE. Forgive the inelegant cut'n'paste job, but it contains all the necessary layout info. Component requirements are covered in the original source documents linked above.

Also, a tip of the hat to forum member Candletears7 for several useful tips and insights as I was planning this project, based upon his own experience with a a SHO-OCD combo pedal.

I'm very pleased with how it came out. Might be my best effort to date, as far as the finish design & execution. The enclosure is a white powder-coated BB box from Small Bear. Graphics are a color inkjet printed full-face waterslide decal with a couple of coats of clear acrylic over the top.

I picked up one of these SHOCD pedals a while back and I really dig it, it's one of my favorite overdrives right now. I like the switchable effect order though, nice touch! Great build!

Clean build and a well executed idea. Thanks for providing the layout and all the details regarding the effect order switching and wiring!

As a huge Yankee fan and someone who has built a "Yankee Pedal" all I can say is ...............Holy Cow! This makes mine look like the KC Royals.

DVM is one of my favorite builders and this vaults him right to the top of the standings.
The finish is excellent. The idea well executed. I layout looks crazy, but somehow DVM made the wiring neat and tight.

DVM = MVD(IY-Pedal Builder).

I have a big piece of vero and a predrilled enclosure yelling at me to build this guy.

Thanks for the layout, bro. Now enjoy your ride down the Canyon of DIY Heroes.

Well it looks good on the inside. No comment on the outside

Thanks for the layouts and stuff.

Right there with ya!

My first comment to myself when I saw the outside was "Oh no, not anotehr one..." hehehehe.

Killer build. I'm dying to do one of these. I am nearing completion of a similar idea, though differently executed. Partially because I didn't have an OCD board ready to go, and partially because I failed at perfing an SHO. It's my first two-effects-one-enclosure attempt so I'm really taking my time with it and hopefully haven't screwed it up. It'll be posted here in a couple weeks I hope - it's close.

Hey, we Yankees fans can't help ourselves! And neither can you Yanks-haters!

Thanks to all for the kind comments.

BTW, something I forgot to mention but was quite proud of on this first veroboard build I've attempted--It worked completely correctly the first time I plugged it in! Only problem was that the OCD gain pot worked backwards, and that turned out to be an error in the Stratotrasto layout (I corrected it in my combo layout drawing). 5 minute fix though, swapping the lug wiring....

this thing looks great! I feel like im one of the few who have yet to combine each of these pedals! I think after i do my first vero (ea trem) ill throw one of these together. Everyone seems to love how these two sound together. I like the SHO into my tube screamer, but maybe this will sound better?

awesome looking pedal, you gotta give props to anyone with the patience to do decals on their pedals!

BTW, I have a drilling template for this pedal--BB sized enclosure--if anybody ever wants to use exactly this same layout.

AAMOF, I currently have this pedal right in front of my OD2 and was just running the SHO stage with the overdrive stage of that pedal last night. Sounded pretty good, too....

Dude that's a great pedal. very well executed. Love the effect order switcher and the decal work is awesome. Killer job. I'm working on a 250-SHO OD right now.

PS. I''m from Philly so screw you and your Yankees.

PHEW! That was close. I was going to do a 250/SHO, but since my perf SHO has given me fits, I decided to do something else. Stay tuned ;)
