I started to source my own parts lately and I find it very satisfying to build pedals this way. It can be overwhelming at times with the vastness of Mouser or Digikey. I think it would be cool if we had a centralized spot where we could post a part and a part number that we are looking for or substitute parts of hard to find items. There is a lot of great info on this forum but I find it's scattered all over the place. Some times there is a part number for a transistor in an off topic post about grilled cheese sandwiches. lol

I'll get things started... I'm looking for the mouser part number for the wire Keith uses in his kits. I got some from smallbear but it sucks. It's to brittle and breaks easily. The stuff keith uses is much more flexible.

I've been thinking that it would be cool if the part numbers, as well as usable substitutions, were right next to the parts on the checklist within the instruction PDF's. I remember reading a disclaimer somewhere over at the BYOC site saying something to the effect that BYOC is not responsible for providing part numbers for sourcing your own parts, but I still think it would be a very helpful thing to have. The process of writing all of those part numbers into all of those instruction sheets would probably be a royal pain in the ass too - LOL.

Now if someone needs wire all they have to do is search for wire in this post instead of the whole forum. I hope all you guys post your part number questions here so it's a little more organized.

Maybe if we're real nice to Matt, he might create a whole section in the forum for part number questions ;)

How about the MN3007 BBD for the chorus? I know smallbear has it but I can't find it at Mouser. I there a substitute at mouser or do I need to get it at smallbear?

Here's a link to the Digi-Key catalog page with their prices and parts numbers for the Panasonic B-Series Poly Caps that Small Bear sells:
http://rocky.digikey.com/scripts/Produc ... CQ-B1271JF

And here's a link to Digi-Key's catalog/product info for bulk resistors by Yageo:
http://rocky.digikey.com/scripts/Produc ... R-25JB-1R5

Hope that helps....

This is great guys, ideas like this are why BYOC is my favorite DIY forum.

xicon 5% carbon film resistors 1/4 watt: 291-VALUE-rc
" " 1% metal film" ": 271-VALUE-rc

AVX metal film caps <.22: 581-bq014d0*capacitor value code* ex: .022 = 223

New to this sourcing own parts thing but I think this is the Mouser part number for the A25K pot. You might hold off until someone with more experience like Stephen, GeekMacDaddy or Leader responds as well. (or any of the other good folk here who can verify).

313-1520F-25K

(on a personal note: my bummer is that I can get everything I need right now at small bear except for that new trem pot. I simply wish there was just one easy place to shop when needing just a few parts or a replacement part for a kit)

I think they are the right ones. I get them at Smallbear. They are cheaper.

i am looking for the part number for DPDT toggles from mouser. i like the small bear ones, but their bulk discounts aren't great. mouser has great discounts for bulk.

I don't think Small Bear has the 25k Audio Pots. At least not on their site right now. If they do, can someone send me the link? I've got an order to place and I prefer small bear over Mouser (it's a me getting lost in the online catalog issue) but they don't have that pot.

Thanks
