Hey Guys
Thought I'd throw my current projects up...and maybe get some advice on the last one.

First up...a prototyping breakout box, inspired by Beavis Audio's Beavis Board - provides true bypass, and provides the in, out, +ve and -ve on the terminal block for easy connection to completed boards for testing. Works a treat.

And then...a little 1 transistor dirt box, pretty much Beavis' Trotsky Drive, moved over to vero. I've only just stumbled across vero - what a revelation! Looking forward to giving to layouts over at Sabrotone a good bashing. This one worked more or less out of the box, and I've got the Australian equivalent to the 1590B box to put it in. Running 1N4148's for clipping, and a 2N3094. Wouldn't mind finding some gnarly old transistors to try out in it.

Lucky last...a Green Ringer built off the Sabrotone layout. Everything went in ok, but it's not functioning yet. When the +ve and -ve is connected to the board, the bypass cuts out, LED won't light up etc. Disconnecting the power but leaving the signal connected will allow the bypass to work, but no signal through the board (obviously). Continuity is ok along both power rails, I'm out of ideas as to why. I can't get my hands on 2N5088 transistors for Q1 and Q3 - I thought the pinouts were reverse to the 5088, so I've reversed them in the sockets. Any ideas guys?

On a side note, glad I found this forum. I tried my hand at things like the 3ms pedals years and years ago (like, 10), but didn't get very far - not surprising, given I lived in a town with no electronics shop. Have 2 Jaycars (and the vastly improved supplies of the net) now, so much more potential.

*edit* now with new, improved photos

Cheers
Ross

It might help if you resized your pics a bit, it's kinda hard to read and look at your board at the same time.
As for trannies, which one's did you use?
Look up the pinout to be sure exactly what it is and go from there.
As it is, you may want to try switching your trannies around to match the layout.
Troubleshooting is where you really learn about your circuit.
Also, do you have an audio probe?

Ditto. After I had to scroll to the side to see the first pic and still couldn't see the whole thing in my screen I stopped caring.

Here, man. Use this Sticky to help get those images resized. It'll make it easier for everyone. Good luck with the build.

I can't read the transistor codes, perhaps if you made the pictures a little larger..
Okay I'm kidding, they're a bit large already.. but yeah, try swapping the trannies around, I don't believe that would have any catastrophic consequences..

As I recall reading, Green Ringer circuits are a bit hit-or-miss sometimes- I thought it was diode related issues that made them tricky.. my two cents.

I think I might have found the culprit...long jumper along grid eleven, should be running from B to I, but I've wired it from A to I. In effect, shorting the +ve and -ve together. I'll pull it apart tomorrow afternoon and see if that's the culprit.
