Got my CE2 built.. works BUT no l.e.d. (led is installed but not working) and there is a ticking sound that coincides with the rate...... no led and a ticking sound that is in tempo with the rate.

thanks in advance. Also I cant get the AC plug to work.

Most likely the LED is in backwards. The ticking sound is probably from the low frequency sweep oscillator and should change in rate as you change the sweep speed. You may find that very careful adjustment of the 25K preset will help to minimise this.

The AC?? plug - you mean the external power connector. If it does not allow you to power the pedal from a suitable external power supply (nominal 9V with the negative on the centre pin) then you have likely wired the connector incorrectly. Look carefully at the wiring diagram in the instructions and make sure the wires go to the correct positions on the PCB. You probably have the wiring to the barrel and switching contacts reversed. The LED lead that connects to the resistor that goes to the positive supply would have been the longer lead (before any lead clipping). This goes to the square pad on the PCB. The white silk screen shows this as on the same side as the flat on the LED which is wrong. The flat is opposite the positive lead.

This is the method I use to get rid of the clicking...

Remove the wire between the input jack's TIP lug and the PCB's IN eyelet. If your stomp switch is wired directly to the PCB remove the wire between lug 4 of the switch and eyelet 4 on the PCB. Now run a new wire from the input jack's TIP lug directly to lug 4 of the stomp switch. This should eliminate the ticking you're hearing.

Nice tip Stephen on how to solve the ticking!

It has just occurred to me to point out that when you say AC plug that the power input socket on I think all of the BYOC pedals is a DC input. Applying AC to most of them will often fry the pedal.
I mention this because apparently a few new builders have grabbed any old wall wart that is lying around and plugged in expecting this to just work. You need an external supply that converts AC mains power to well smoothed 9 volt DC with a 2.1mm power jack wired with negative on the centre pin and positive on the barrel.

Hi - I seem to have a similar situation. I built the chorus pedal and it has worked great for six months and today instead of the nice chorus sound i get a dry guitar signal with a rhythmic ticking that coincides with the rate and depth adjustment. It just stopped working out of the blue. I normally use it with 9vdc adaptor and i tried it with the battery with identical results. Any ideas about where i should trouble shoot or what to try?

First thing I would do is disassemble the pedal, pull the chips from the sockets, and reheat all of the solder joints. then out it back together and see if it works. If it doesn't work, take voltage readings from all of the ICs.

So i resoldered everything and still exactly the same sound. Two of the IC's are not socketed- but the pedal had worked fine like this. Maybe i should replace and socket those two IC's?Does anyone have the normal voltage readings for the IC? I am not sure where exactly to take the reading from, for example ther are eight pins on each IC and it seems like they give different voltage readings.

I have the same ticking noise. I am going to try rerouting the input path as mentioned.

Your issue is not related to the ticking described in this thread. Please start your own thread for your build, please include pictures, and we'll help you get it going.

Thanks! :D
