Stunning work Scooter
Mojotone CTS pots, what values? Something you'd recommend?

Thank you.

They are 250k solid shaft CTS.

I find them to be smooth, accurate and to closer tolerances than many others.
Nice price, too.

I'd really love to rub that bass all over my naked, glistening body. Yeah, it's that sexy.

That is sweet. My first bass was a horrible Korean P-Bass copy, never really recovered from that fiasco, so I'm not partial to P-Bass, but that looks realy well made. I could never figure out how the thumb-rest BELOW the strings was supposed to be ergonomical. I unscrewed mine immediately and put it above the strings, wore a hole through the paint digging my thumb in until I realized you could mute the e-string by resting your thumb on it. What was Leo Fender thinking on the particular feature?

Many thanks! 8)

To answer your question, when the rest is below the "G" string it is a "finger" rest.
The idea being that you would grip it with your fingers and pluck with the thumb.

Scooter - A Minor Mystery Solved! There had to be a reason, I guess the first generation of electric bass players were formerly playing uprights, so plucking with the thumb made sense. You don't see many guys play like that anymore, mostly two fingers or a pick. Again, gorgeous job on the bass, I dug the Tele too. I have a half-finished mahogany body with an old Steinberger neck and tuners sitting on my workbench for the last two years, you inspire me to finish it.

Somebody call the fire department cause that guîtar is on fire. Now I also know why the thumb rest is on the bottom, I was lost on that one too. For the Kirchen neck joint, what screws and plugs did you use? I can't think of those thingies you press in joint at the moment

I honestly don't remember where I got the hardware.
When I decided to start offering the mod I bought enough to last awhile.

It's pretty straightforward really.

You drill the holes to the desired depth in the neck with a drill press and countersink for the inserts.
The inserts go in with a hex wrench and then I wick epoxy into the insert to solidify the bond.

Then you use metal bolts of the right length and with the appropriate thread. 8)
