With diodes back in place, a fresh brick and a fresh 9V battery this is what I got.

IC1 pin 1 is good.
R6 probed directly above pin 8 of IC1 is distorted, but has an extremely low level.
IC1 pin 7 is distorted and has normal level.
C5 not probed.
brick pin 4 is distorted.

So to sum up I am detecting distortion first at R6 (right side).

Okay - lift one side of R15 and re-probe. You don't have to take the brick off, just heat one of the resistor leads from the top of the pcb and pull that side out of the pcb with pliers.

If you still have distortion on IC1 pin 7 (that's where we want to eliminate it), lift one end of R8 (and leave R15 lifted too).

R15 lifted still distorted at IC1 pin 7.
R8 and R15 lifted no distortion.

Eureka! So, do you get normal operation from the pedal (minus the use of the dwell knob), out of the output jack with R8 and R15 lifted?

No. I only get distortion free sound with the reverb pot all the way down.
Everything at 9V.

Okay - so with R8 and R15 lifted, where does the distortion appear? Wet signal path is approximately IC1 pin 7 > brick pin 4 > brick pin 1 > IC2 pin 7 > Q1 emitter > IC2 pin 1.

This is with a 9 volt DC supply source, correct? And do you have the stock value in R14?

Voltage on the new brick is still 5 vdc? What is the voltage on the other brick pins?

These are the readings on the new brick.

Pin 1 4.17v
Pin 2 4.17v
Pin 3 0v
Pin 4 starts at about 3 and drains to 0
Pin 5 0v
Pin 6 0v
Pin 7 5.0v

Still trying to chase down a short around the brick...

Please measure and report resistance between the following brick pins: 1-2, 2-3, 4-all other pins, 3-5, 6-all other pins, 5-7, 1-7
