Heya,

I saw a post about this in the Build your own Cable sticky, but I wasn't sure how many people look at that...so, sorry in advance for the repost.

I bought an evidence audio forte cable...it has 2 wires in the core and the meshed ground surrounding them...one of the cores is surrounded by black, and one by white.

I've built my own cables before, but this extra core wire is confusing me...anybody know how to set these up?

Thanks!

I believe the way you do this is:
Use one core for the tip, the other core for the sleeve. Take the weave and connect it to ground at one end of the cable, but not the other. My understanding is that this *should* help shield the cable. Now I don't know if it is correct or will work, but that is how I understand it. The last time I saw cable like that, it was for a balanced system (microphones, balanced acoustic guitars like my Taylor). You would run each of the cores as a Hot (1+, 2-) and the weave as the ground (3). For a 1/4" it would be T/R/S or the 3 pins on an XLR cable.

Oh good, I got it right in the DIY cables thread. I didn't see this thread, but answered the question there.

I've always thought their website sucked too. Thought it was just me. I have some of their cables and hated that website when I was shopping and reading.

yeah, that link goes to the marketing section of their site...which I don't even see a link for on the homepage. It should be under product documents or something.

thanks again for your help guys, got this guy up and running last night. Great cable.
