GuitarPCB D’Lay - warp pot version. This is my first non-kit build. It’s taken a while to finish as I played with it for a while and modded before I got round to finishing the enclosure. I thought it was an appropriate pedal for my first attempt at DCountry13’s speckled finish (or at least my attempt at it!). I had to adjust the pot and resistor values it to get the warp working well but it was worth it - heaps of fun! I added the rate switch and worked out the dry kill switch mod myself. Sounds great!

Very nice build !! I have got to build one of these.

Love the graphic and the LED cover and knobs make for a classy finish.

Your first non-kit build? That is hugely impressive, especially with the mods! 8)

My D'Lay with momentary warp switch bumped my Aqua Puss off my gig pedalboard, so yeah, I like it

Thanks for your kind comments guys.

The warp was a bit tame with a 5k pot/10k resistor but swapping the values unleashed a monster! I can tweak the warp to get infinite repeats with a level volume forever. You have to be careful as the volume increases if it's set too high... .. goodbye speakers! I like to ride it until it's just right then play with the delay time etc. I think it works best with the repeats maxed and for gigging a warp pot/momentary footswitch combo would allow a "preset" warp setting and could work well. I'd add the "max repeats" mod on the switch, as the warp works best for me with the repeats up full.

Having said all that, a plain 3 knob build will do the normal delay stuff vey nicely indeed. The short/long switch just swaps R21 between 2 values. I socketed it and tried different reesistors - I found the stock value is spot on for a fixed value. The switch allows a bit longer delay time than standard on "long" and is easier to fine tune for short settings. To my ears the short value sounds better for slapback, which is interesting because slapback wasn't something I was looking for. Until I found it.

Looks totally pro Hog.

Hey, what values did you swap in there? I've got this build next up for a customer and the problem is I hadn't build my own so I'm not real sure what I want to do. I was going to add the time warp pot already and drilled for it.

Pretty sure I swapped the warp pot to 10k and R-B to 5k. R22 controls the delay time and I found that the stock 150k was the best compromise for a fixed value. I'll check the values on my switch and report back. The other switch kills the dry signal by breaking the circuit at R12. I only did it for use in the loop of a Paramix.

Just checked. It's a 10k warp pot, R-B is 4k7, the short resistor on the switch is 68k and the long is 220k, which was the limit for me before the degradation got too bad.

Nice work, Harry (or should I call you Mr. Hog? ). Love seeing guys dive right into modding and tweaking circuits to their liking. It's what DIY is all about at the end of the day.

Kudos, HH.

Excellent build! That sure is pretty.

I'm very happy with my D'lay too. I forgot to try the warp on a pot though (did it on a stomp)---so much potential for destruction!

Thank you Mr Country13, your kind comments are much appreciated. Harry, Hog or HH are all fine by me. An explanation of my name is overdue (and quite funny) so I've posted it here: http://www.buildyourownclone.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=37022.

I'm proud of the dry kill, even though it's not that difficult, mainly because I thought of it in the first place. The enclosure looks more speckled in real life and it seems to change when I look at it from different angles.

I still can't get my head round the stomp without a pot or trimmer to control the fun. As I said before, I reckon a pot/stomp/max repeats mod combo would be great live. I'm only using it at home, so the knobs are within in easy reach.... It adds some extra fun to what is already a great delay.

Of course you could use a stomp/pot combo. Stomp turns the warp on/off and pot controls the amount of warp.....

Talk amongst yourselves.

...that's what I meant, with max repeats to encourage warp factor.

Thanks. I was going to post it at yours, just haven't had time to get to grips with linking the pics. It will appear soon!

Thanks.

The wires are vaguely colour coded, helps to stop me mis-wiring pots.
