....you spend a weekend 3D modeling pedal hardware and circuit board in Solidworks to determine how to fit it all in the cast aluminum enclosure you scavanged from a dead external harddrive.

.....you google the USPTO to find the original circuit diagram and component values for a pedal you want to mod.

.....when your wife makes mention that she noticed the *electronics wholesalers* catalog in the "library" has changed pages from knobs to switches.

..........your wife comes home to find a new guitar you bought and is happy you bought an actual guitar (no matter what cost) as opposed to getting a bunch of boxes with parts from Mouser, Mammoth, Tayda, Culturejam, Guitarpcb, etc.

Yes indeed she does.

...you ordered a couple boards during a group buy, completely forgot about it, then when one of the leftovers from said group buy came up in BST, you tried to buy it.

...despite having a dedicated pedal building workbench, parts and partially finished projects can be found on previously useful surfaces in at least 3 other rooms in the house

...you started buying duplicates of all your pedal building tools to stop having to run up and down the stairs between the basement workbench and the upstairs workbench

...you sell boards you haven't gotten around to building yet to fund parts purchases to build more pedals you haven't gotten around to building yet (or is that just me...)

Every knob on every piece of electronics/appliance/automobile/garden utensil is evaluated for potential use on a pedal.

...non-musician friends or acquaintances are visiting your house. You retrieve some DIY pedals to show off to them. 10 minutes later, their questions indicate they have no idea what a guitar effects pedal is/does. "so.. what do those do to your guitar?"

...your friends look at all of the candy-color boxes on your pedal board and say "those are cute, where did you buy them?"
...the other guitarist in your band looks at your board in confusion because non of the pedals say 'Boss' on them.
...you've submitted more than one response to this thread

You can't wait to get home and see if you got some new parts in the mailbox, then upon opening said box, get pleasantly surprise to find something you've completely forgotten about.

I knew that! I'm a pedal junky!

Oh yeah, I already found that out further up.

You change solder iron tips more often than you change guitar strings.
