Seriously, in all seriousness, I've been thinking of asking my recently retired (and bored out of his mind) Dad to populate boards for me....

FOR THE WIN. Been trying to figure out how to get my toddler to help out with this stuff. BRILLIANT.

When My son starts twisting knobs he inevitably goes for the volume first, gives it a thorough clockwise turn, then runs out screaming from the wall of sound that hit his poor little head. Why can't he find a rate knob?

...you decided posting on page three of this thread was a good idea.
...you get irritated when no one comments on your post
...you get a little sad when no one ever uses your quotes in future posts
...you constantly check others signatures to see if any of them have a quote of yours in it

man I sound pathetic

Does it count if I take your quotes a little out of context?

You go to a gear head’s house in answer to a classified ad selling equipment; you talk theory and electronics all night and leave without buying anything yet both of you are insufferably pleased with the event

- Your parts stash has outgrown your organization system, and you've had to move all the bits into a new, larger system. At least 3 times.

- BYOC is on your bookmarks toolbar.

- You show your gal pictures of pedals other DIYers have built, knowing full-well that she can barely tolerate looking at your own builds, and is ten times less interested in seeing them than you are interested in seeing pictures of her latest 'dream shoes'.

It hearkens back to our erstwhile discussion of "T1mmy" vs "Timmy" for search engine purposes.

They see me rollin. They hatin!

The real irony is that the old T1mmy joke has been refreshed. Rob typed "Timmy" and then Paul drops by to break balls a couple weeks later. That IS the joke. So I guess it's not that old after all.

Rob: please use "T2mmy" from now on.

- When out of nowhere your kids tell you what you should call your next pedal

- You've got a multimeter stashed in more than one room

- You continue to stop by radioshack even though you know they don't have what you need....

Typical trip...

Enter radio shack aka "the shack"

Sales clerk: "Hello, can I help you find something today?"

Me: "No, I know where to go for what I'm looking for."

Sales clerk: "Ok, let me know if you need any help."

Me: "OK"

I proceed to the dark corner in the back, considered by some "nerd kingdom". Once again, I am unsuccessful in my hunt.

Exiting radio shack aka "the shack"

Sales clerk: "Did you find what you were looking for today?"

Me: "No, you don't carry any 6k8 resistors."

Sales clerk: "Oh, did you check the hardware store down the road. They carry stuff like that."

Me: "No they don't carry what I'm looking for. I usually have to source online because people don't DIY anymore."

Sales clerk: "Oh, what are you building?"

Me: "Guitar effects."

Sales clerk: "Oh like spaceships and stuff..."

Me: "Yeah, pretty close." "Bye."

Sales clerk: "Bye, come again!"

Give me a break… Where did you see me “bust balls”? I saw an innocent poke, and I made an innocent poke back. If you can have a little bit of fun at my expense can I not do the same? I thought what was said was funny – from all sides.

I’ll tell you the reason I was here, and it had nothing to do with trying to dig up posts by Rob. Somebody informed me this morning about a clone for sale on ebay called the “Timmy G ‘Paul’ pedal”. I came here to see if there was any info on the company. I did a search on “timmy” to see if it popped up, and saw those couple of posts by you and Rob. I just had to join in. No big deal.

Fair enough. The old internets is hard to read sometimes vis-a-vis subtlety and humor. I read your repeated use of "last year"as passive-aggressive rather than humorous. My bad. Sometimes a lack of emoticons makes a honestly jokey post come off less than funny.

I understand. I feel the same way about the passive-aggressive tone thing. The repeated joke about not posting "timmy" comes across that way and I have to sometimes stop myself from thinking "why the drama" and just laugh it off as nothing more than a joke and join in.
