here's my first build. of course, the BYOC Confidence Boost.
i was pretty excited and a little unsure about my first soldering
attempt. i guess i watched the right amount of videos and read
enough of the tutorial posts from everyone here, because
the board worked without a problem. couldn't have done it without
all of your posts and tips.

question: is the melted plastic on the underside of the pcb ok?
am i heating the board too much?

can't wait to start my octave fuzz!

Looks good. You need to work on clipping your leads a lot shorter but other than that looks pretty good for a first go round!

Congrats and welcome to your new addiction!

looking good! that's not melted plastic on the board - don't worry. It's flux from inside the solder, and the fact that it's clear and not brown (burnt) means you're working quickly and cleanly. Just trim those leads off even with the top of each solder joint and you'll be all set.

Thanks for all the feedback! I'll definitely clip those posts better. I didn't really notice it until I looked at the pictures. They didn't seem that long when I cut them.

It did! Started my Octave Fuzz today. Got the board populated...just have to do the off board wiring.
