Not the biggest John Mayer guy, but I really like this cd a lot. It still sounds like him, yet I hear all kinds of old artists I love...especially Bob Dylan.

I hope he keeps this up. I much prefer it to the pop stuff.

If you haven't already, check out the John Mayer Trio's live CD 'Try!'. Great blues stuff and the Berklee educated guitar playing Mayer comes out instead of the body is a wonderland crap. He is a really really talented guitar player and songwriter, and for better or worse chose to use his powers primarily for evil :D

+1 for Try! and pretty much anytime I hear him live, when he plays crazy good improvised blues jams over what were once songs he wrote for the radio. I'm a big Mayer fan, not ashamed to say it

yeah, this album is great. I've been listening to the iTunes free streaming thing for the last week or so, and I reckon there's not a song on this one that I don't like.

By contrast, my wife had Battle Studies in the car, and there's only 2ish songs that I can bear listening to on that one.

As a song writer alone, he gets my respect. Coincidentally, he's a great guitarist. A fine young artist.

Thanks for sharing. Good stuff.

Any Dustin Kensrue (lead singer of Thrice) fans out there? His solo stuff is more Springsteen Nebraska-ish, maybe.

Solo album is called "Please Come Home".

Here is one song from it:

Sorry for the slight hijack.
