In addition to my recent outbranching into doom/stoner stuff, I also have taking a shine to some dub step. I don't like all of it, but the stuff I like tends to remind me of doom, actually: slow, lots of bass, repetitive grooves, and a lot of it is angry and dark.

Anyway, I'd like to solicit the crowd for any favorites in the genre. I don't expect as many responses as my stoner thread, but I know there have to be at least a couple closet dub step fans here.

I first got turned on to the genre by Pinn Pannel, which isn't a dub step band, but they did a live-in-the-studio cover of a Skrillex song, and it blew my mind. Here's the youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuunY8BTqNs

I'm probably more of a "bubble gum" fan than a hard-core fan, if my taste in other electronica is a gauge (Paul Van Dyke, The Crystal Method, Leftfield, The Prodigy, Lords of Acid, Mushroom Jazz, et al.) I like the "wub-wub" stuff.

So if you don't mind that SugarBear will probably start a thread making fun of your taste in music, I'd appreciate your input.

wish I could help...

unfortunately my enjoyment of electronic-type stuff begins and ends with Thievery Corporation. OK, and maybe just a wee bit of Kruder & Dorfmeister, but only if I'm stoned

I'm a fan of KMFDM from back in the day as well. Dub step reminds me of "industrial" as well.

Sax: I've seen that guy that does the insane dancing! He does real time slow-mo that really looks like 60-FPS slow-mo.

Tell your old lady I said thanks for the suggestions. :D

Avoid it altogether  I'm still really trying to find the "dub" part of dubstep, but I digress. Check out some newer Scorn and maybe some nice JK Flesh. Your speakers will hate you for it 8)

Check out these guys. they're probably the best thing going on in Israel currently music-wise.
I'm not into dubstep at all but I just know they were described as dubstep-psychedelic-rock and such.
they opened for the Mars Volta about a month ago and they killed!

They're f@cking LOUD live!!! Absolutley phenomenal! I wish they succeed abroad as not many bands from Israel manage to do it. I can totally see them doing it live on festival stages in europe.

Hey captain, do you see this kind of music making it in the US as well? It always seems to me that it's more of a european kind of dark and heavy thing. Am I wrong?

I am dark and heavy and don't get a lot of love..................

That actually wasn't too bad.

I just got hipped to Porcupine Tree last week.

I gotta find something to cheer me up!

I think he only touches on dubstep, but I heart Beardyman.
