Hello,
I want to combine a mxr classic OD and a mxr classic Distortion in one box (enclosure) like a visual sound jekyll and hyde V2.
I know I'm not ground up building yet, but as I'm trying to get my feet wet I thought that moving a few jacks and switches may help start me off to a first build. I've only done some guitar mod work up to this point which is starting to become enjoyable.
Thanks for any future input,
:?

Totally possible.

Sure, but in my noobish stage of not that long ago I wouldn't be messing around in another pedal and rehousing. But then I'm sort of a chicken and go at it in baby steps. Others just dive in. But it's doable.

Yeah man, that's totally possible, 2 in 1 are great, space savers and you sometime come up with tones that you would'nt have get by running the 2 pedals individually.

If you're really founded on those circuit, it would not be that hard to source pcb and all what you need to build it!

To add to the noob-ucation, if you were to do something like this, how do you handle power? Lets take what I would think would be the simplest case like this. I have two separate circuits and I'm just going to stick the two of them into a larger case and tie the output on one into the input on the other. Can I use a single 9V power supply as long as the mA isn't exceeded?

That's exactly what I just did with 2 reverb circuits in the same box (haven't posted pics yet). An average dirt or fuzz won't eat much current at all so a single DC jack will be fine for both.

O.k. I found out that the m-86 classic distortion is supposed to draw <2.2mA and the m-66classic O.D. will draw <4mA. I usually run a dc brick that can supply 1000mA by 9 volt or 18 v.
Please excuse my ignorance folks, I come up with a total of ~ 6.2mA. Could a 9 volt battery handle it? Or could I pass both power requirements through to a jack through a power brick if it came to that?
If I'm just dumb about it there's no shame to me, it's why I asked. If there is some information that explains why it's too complex or a bad idea, I won't be pig headed. Would gut shots of both pedals help me help myself?

Your not going to have any trouble running both of those off of the one battery, or any power supply for that matter.

O.K. I've taken some shots of the two pedals I'd like to combine. For reference the pic on the left is always the mxr-66 classic OD and the pic on the right is always the mxr-86 classic Distortion. One pedal pics I have left part of the housing in the shot to key which pedal is which (green OD black Distortion).
I did find a mod that moves the internal switch out to the shell of the OD pedal so that I can get a OD gt or a zack wylde OD pedal. That's my first move right now. Again, my thanks in advance for anyone who is willing to help a noob. :)

Most of us use external photo hosting such as flikr or photobucket. They're free and you can directly embed the urls so that the pics appear in your post.
