The op-amp that came with my kit does not have a U-shaped notch in it as per the instructions, so I'm not sure if I have it in the right way. It does have a small circle in the top at one end, which I'm guessing is an orientation guide. All I know is the pedal's not working properly and this is the one part I was unsure of.

The LED lights up the appropriate colour in each position, but only the red mode (I think) and bypass see any signal making it to the amp. The other two are silent. Would this be a problem with the op-amp? I've also singed the insulation on some of the connecting wires during my clumsy soldering work, so is there a possibility I've burnt them out?

And has anyone used the Armstrong Twin with a theremin?

The circle denotes pin 1 if there is no U-shaped notch. If there's both, go by the U-shaped notch.

It sounds like you've got the IC in correctly (the circle goes towards the u shape). It seems like the problem is with the greenringer section of the circuit. Can you post some pics?

I just spent some time with the schematic today, and I can say pretty definitely that the issue is with the greenringer portion of the circuit. I'd check for a cold joint on that half (c1, c4, q1, q2, q3 seem like the most likely suspects).

Since you got half of the circuit to work, its very likely something as simple as a bad solder joint.
