I'm checking the mail after work today, and my wife is backing out of the carport. I hear a loud slam and turn around to see that my wife has backed the Element into my truck. A little pissed to say the least. Seriously, it's the only thing in the yard, and she backs out every day. How the hell did she manage that??? For those contemplating marriage, try this to see if you're ready. Every month, take about $1,500 of your paycheck and burn it. If it doesn't bother you that much, then you'll probably be able to handle being married.

It could be worse, she could've backed into a rack of guitars or an amp.

Actually, my wife makes about three times what I do, which is why I tolerate her drying bras on my work bench and burnt pancakes on Saturday morning.

Funny, my wife makes a boatload more money than I do and sometimes I wonder when she's going to realize she's married to a bum. :D

For some reason she seems to understand that I'm a nerd and that I really do need five different fuzz pedals, four different tremolos, 3 different....oh you get the point.

All glory to my wife.

It's my theory that women (in general) have a harder time judging spatial relationships than do men (in general). That's why it seems that women brake way later than us men-folk think is safe.

Sometimes riding shotgun with a woman driving scares the holy shit out of me. I often find myself (as a passenger) instinctively slamming my foot into the floorboard looking for the break pedal. :D

Okay, so most of them don't drive at a level of proficiency that we would. But otherwise, women pretty much rock. I mean, which of us is more likely to start a war?

I guess you have to decide if it's better to sit scared to death next to a woman driving, or drive listening to her constantly nag everything you're doing wrong...I guess that's why Keith has me drive everywhere. When he drives we usually end up slamming to a stop on the side of some road with a few "words" exchanged and I end up driving the rest of the way anyway.

HAHA! When I first started reading the story, I thought this was where the story was going :)

I hear ya on the $1500 a month thing, and I'm not even married yet ;)

I NEVER critique my wife's driving anymore. we had one HELL of a wreck earlier this year (august 8th,...i'll remember that day until i die,...). after all that happened that day, i'm just glad to still have her and my kids. some stupid junkie hit us going 110 on the highway and basically pit manuevered us and nearly killed us all. the "nearly killed us all" part isn't hyperbole,...when he hit us we were traveling across the bridge that passes over the interstate and he came within 10 feet of pushing us over it into the traffic below. easily the worst day of my life. my kids were freaking out because they were all bruised and cut and scraped, and it didn't help that momma got taken away in an ambulance cause the paramedics were worried about the baby. (she was 7 and 1/2 months at the time). i tore up my wrist (its hard to play guitar in a cast), my wife broke her ankle (we're still dealing with that. yipee for orthoscopic surgeons  ), the car got totalled, and i lost my red sox hat in the ditch somewhere. last week we had to testify in court because the city is prosecuting him for the wreck among other things he's done. when the DA asked him why he was going so fast he said "i was just in a hurry, i guess. they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time." i almost came out of my seat and beat the fear of the Lord into that man.

anyway, we drive alot differently now, but i don't sweat the dents or the scuffs or the scratched paint. like Jooooosh said,...it could be worse.

Noshoes - glad you guys are all alive after that horror story. I'd be much more than happy to head by Fenway to the infamous Souvenir Store on Yawkey Way and get you a new Sox hat. Been meaning to stop by to get something with the World Series logo on it anyway... Might not be able to get it to you before the end of the WS, but seriously - say the word and you'll have a new hat in the mail.

Shoot me a PM.

thanks man, i appreciate that! actually, one of the reason's i'm holding off is that my hat was that awesome shade of "i'm not on the band wagon, i've had this hat for 8 years" gray,...so to get a new one now would almost put me a step backwards. :) i'll have to wait for a little while and then "age" it somehow.

I don't know if it's the quality of manufacturing or what, but I've been getting a new one every season and bys August they start to get that look. I didn't get one this year, and opted for my 2004 hat instead. Just never found one I liked... It has that look for sure. Now that it's seen two WS appearances, I don't know how to retire it.

OK well if you want something with the WS logo on it, or something else just to keep and not necessarily be a daily wearer, let me know. They have stuff there that you can't get online.
