since i've got this circuit sitting about, i thought i'd see about rehousing it with a switch, led, and power jack. remember... i'm still very, very new, so please be gentle. ;-)

thanks guys!

You rock j! There should be more newbies like you. Taking time to figure something out by doing a little searching and a little common sense. Not that we mind answering questions. ;)

Wire it up, bro. Go the distance. Build it and ....you know the rest. Nice job.

I made my first order a couple weeks ago and built my first pedal last week.

Should a confidence booster have come in my order?

+1 - well done!

Try to take it one step further and replace the trimpot with a pot mounted on the enclosure to control the volume of the effect from the outside. :D

jdavyd, I am a fellow newbie and came across this post as I had similar vision for the conf boost kit.

Great work and thanks for sharing it! I'll certainly use your diagram as a reference.

Any luck with the external pot? any chance a new or modified diagram with it?

My focus is trying to modify the pedals as delivered in the original kits for optimal use with a bass guitar. Plenty of good feedback already from these friendly folks. Any considerations to work off jdavyd's mod with a bass guitar in mind would be appreciated. Feel free to em/pm or start another thread as I dont mean to divert this discussion.

Again - thanks for sharing.

i actually decided to use the enclosure i bought to build an AMZ mini-boost instead, so i never got around to wiring up the pot. don't let that discourage you, however, because the confidence booster is a great boost.

as far as modding it for bass, i'm sure that someone with more knowledge and experience can pipe in, but if i had to venture a guess it would be to change the value of one or all of the caps.

Yeah, replacing the caps seem to be a common theme for Bass. Best I will try and report back to the different threads I have been lurking (including this one).

Any advice on pot size? or direction to learn value in differentiating pot sizes?

Again - eager new guy here.

Thanks again for the assistance.

i ordered pots and enclosure from Pedal Parts Plus, who ship fast, and for the most part respond to emails, but that takes a little longer. i'm also not overly confident in my ability to drill & finish an enclosure, and they'll do that for me, so it's worth it.

for pot size, i use the 16mm. no reason to go bigger, as far as i can tell.

does anyone have a diagram or tips on how to add an external pot, what value to use, etc? I'd like to wire up the confidence booster in an enclosure to boost my tele when I switch to it from my 335. Also, any other tips on making this good circuit better would be appreciated. Thanks!

This should work to add an external volume pot. You don't use the trim that comes with the kit so if you already added it you'll have to remove it before you can do this.Image

Don't forget about lug 1 of the pot. It needs to go to that other trimpot eyelet or ground.

Why is it that the diagrams never come through on my browser?

Could someone explain the above phrase for me. which lug of the pot goes to which eyelet? I'm trying to install an external pot and i'm kind of a dunce. thanks!

My original image didn't have a wire on lug one. The picture posted here now is the corrected one.

I just put one together using the wiring from this thread and the bypass works and the LED lights up when I stomp it but when I do I get no sound. I don't have a digital camera handy, but if anyone can make a suggestion where to start, looking I'd appreciate it. I've already gone and re-flowed every solder joint.

I will say this too -- it worked with the trim pot before I started to put it into an enclosure. That might help.

Thanks!

Without a schematic or a PCB to work with I'm kinda flying blind here... so, try this... but no guarantees...

Thanks for this, that's how I wanted to wire mine up when it comes. Anyone put this is a hammond enclosure? What size will it fit in a LB, 1590A, 1590B??? Anyone put a 2.2 K resistor on the LED instead of a 4.7K? And, am I wrong here --shouldn't the resistor go between the LED - and the 3PDT? Thanks for your reply.
