Converting to Linux won't help you. You forget, everything runs on Linux

This is from the article:

"Microsoft is developing Big Brother-style software capable of remotely monitoring a worker’s productivity, physical wellbeing and competence.

The Times has seen a patent application filed by the company for a computer system that links workers to their computers via wireless sensors that measure their metabolism. The system would allow managers to monitor employees’ performance by measuring their heart rate, body temperature, movement, facial expression and blood pressure. Unions said they fear that employees could be dismissed on the basis of a computer’s assessment of their physiological state."

If this is installed where I work, a couple of our secretaries just walking by my office could get me fired

As a long-time Linux user, I'm going to have to disagree with you there.

Sorry, that's sort of joke that we have where I work.

Well, the good news is that if it comes from Microsoft it's going to be really expensive. My company will outsource my job before spending the money on something like that.

Ah, I see. Well played. :D

I think perhaps it would be more accurate to say, "Linux runs on everything," rather than the converse.

I got given half of an old computer by a mate, and spent about £150 on it, and I didnt want to spend any more money on windows so I installed linux. as a result I now have my bedroom desk occupied with a big lump of metal and silicon with very limited use, I cant even get any internets on it, because the instructions to run a wireless driver are stupid and self contradictory

Another scary Big Brother thing is the stat I heard somewhere that whether you know it or not, your picture is taken at least 12 times a day.

With all this technology, the police are still inept, even though they have state of the art equipment and training. It costs money to solve crimes, it makes money when they harrass the taxpayers. Police are only interested in giving speeding and seatbelt tickets.

i worked at a bank for a few years and it was insane how you could track what people did all day by where and how they spent their money. between ATM activity and debit/credit card transactions, i could tell you so much about a person. my theory, don't do anything interesting to the government, and they'll get bored of watching me. i mean seriously, how many hours of video can they take of me zoned out playing Xbox360?
