I have posted about this elsewhere today, so it'd be rude not to have yet another playing ...

Good one Naz. I saw G.B.H. almost 20 years ago in an old movie theatre turned venue. At one point in the show, Colin took a hit off of a huge joint and passed it to the audience. He was also giving shotguns to a lot of us at the front of the stage. Needless to say, I really enjoyed the show :)

Can't say I do, Pancho ... although the name is familiar, but I think it may be a track title by someone else. My aging mind fails me ... hehe

Les Claypool's Flying Frog Brigade, Live Frogs II, Animals.

It's a great cover of Pink Floyd's album Animals, and it's performed live. :D

Rock Kills Kid - 'Run Like Hell' from Are You Nervous - good modern Brit rock. As opposed to My Chemical Romance or any of those that are, well, not good IMO.

edit - not sure that Rock Kills Kid are actually from the UK, they just have that same sound.

Ditto on My Chemical Romance. Can't stand 'em. Especially their bleached blonde, chubby-little-fart "singer". He whines like a third grader who didn't get any ice cream - LOL :)

I can't say anything nice about Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance or any of those wannabe rockers.

They are the reason why the kids are killing punk :x

Anyway. Now playing: Frank Zappa - Uncle Remus

Hey, I strongly believe Fall Out Boy's first album was an excellent pop punk record. Everything after that has pretty much sucked, though.

Well, you are the first to say pop punk.
All the times I've met people who liked FOB they say stuff like "dude, I'm totally into FOB, it's the best hardcore punk rock ever".

Here were I live we've had a flood of emo kids, who doesn't even know what they like. They say they like emo punk, but there's no such music genre, and they always name some freakin MTV style pop band.
And what happens when I go as far as playing some Crass or Subhumans, just to show them what the good old punk was - they don't even think it's punk.

It's sad, really sad. And stuff almost like that happens to the metal genre too.

I'm known to get angry, when talking about how mainstream music sucks the life out of rock, and turns it in to yet another pop/rock love song

... I might be messed up :P
Any schematic for a DIY time machine, so i can go back to the 70's?

BTW, I don't mean to disrespect anybodies opinion.

No, dude, I totally agree with you.

That first album there, Take This To Your Grave, sounds a lot like later emo bands. I can't listen to Braid's Frame & Canvas without reminiscing about the days when I was young and misinformed and was into awful music.

I don't think they are killing punk. They are not even killing some other genre of music (not that I know what genre that is). One artist can not kill a genre or a slew of great bands.

97% of kids that listen to Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance or Panic @ The Disco would be listening to some other band that was trendy at time if you had a time machine. These same kids listened to Good Charlotte and New Found Glory 5-6 years ago, Candlebox or Bush 14 years ago or what have you. The other 2% will go search out the roots/influences of FOB, MCR or PATD or completely look to other musical genre eventually. The other 1% will be life long fans., go see them in small clubs when they are 42 years old and I respect them for that. You don't have to like the new (crappy) bands, I certainly don't, but these bands may actually enjoy the music they are making, so there is nothing wrong with that. I used to laugh at Duran Duran and Cyndi Lauper, but you know what..... both artists put out some damn good music over the years.

Whatever genre of music you like, there are great bands out there making excellent music and with today's technology it is easy to find. Just don't expect to find it on the radio or RTV (my new name for MTV. R = Reality). Don't go to McDonald's if you are looking for gourmet cooking.

Anyway, I am listening to a Tribe Called Quest "I Left My Wallet in El Segundo" from the 1st album right now.

Just got done to listening to some Faith No More. One of my favorite bands of all time.

And, crucify me if you must, but I don't think My Chemical Romance is bad at all. I like the way they kinda tried to bring back the epic rock opera thing. They remind me of a popish-punk version of Queen on some of their songs.

And besides, you can't kill *real* punk. It was dead in the early 80s.
