A fuzz face is a must have for anyone who's
serious about copping vintage tones. The high
prices of boutique versions, the inadequate
reissues, the pantheons of rock legends who've
used it, and the relatively easy build has made
the fuzz face one of the most popular pedals
among DIYers.
The BYOC fuzz kit comes to the exact specs of
the original circuit, but has a few extras that make
this the ultimate fuzz clone. Also, the pedal is
negatively grounded as opposed to the traditional
positive grounding that causes havoc with your
AC power supply...not a problem here. The kit
comes with a set of NOS Philips AC127
transistors. These are the NPN version of the
AC128 for use in a negative ground circuit and in
our humble opinion, these are the holy grail of
NPN fuzz face transistors. They produce a thick,
dark, and wooly fuzz with lots of sustain and they
clean up with the guitar's volume knob like a
dream.
